What is Stella

Stella is a cloud-based platform designed for sharing documents without losing control over them. It provides a secure environment where documents stay in one place and access is managed centrally, with all data stored and processed within the EU.

Instead of sending files through email or shared links, Stella allows you to decide how your documents can be accessed. You can share files for viewing and commenting only or allow downloading when it is appropriate. You always retain continuous visibility into views, edits, and downloads, so you always understand how your documents are being accessed.

Why Stella is needed

In everyday work, documents are often shared using tools that offer little control once the file leaves the sender. Documents can be forwarded, downloaded, or stored elsewhere, and over time sensitive information may surface in places that were never intended. This makes it difficult to manage access and understand what has happened to important files after they are shared.

Many teams work with material that should remain inside a clearly defined environment. Yet shared links continue to move forward, inboxes fill up with copies, and access spreads beyond the intended audience.

Stella addresses this by keeping the file inside a secure environment. Invited people open the content there, and only the actions you explicitly allow are possible. Downloading, sharing, and editing are controlled by the file owner, and all activity remains visible to both the owner and the viewer.

How Stella works

You upload a document to Stella and define who may access it. For each file, you decide whether downloading is allowed and how the content can be viewed. If downloading is enabled, the viewer can save and handle the file outside Stella. If downloading is disabled, the document remains inside Stella’s secure viewer and can only be accessed according to the rules you define.

Stella also provides additional controls to protect sensitive content during viewing. You can add watermarks using predefined options or your own text. Screenshots can be limited, and if the viewing window becomes inactive or the user switches tabs, the document is blurred to prevent unintended visibility.

Stella supports targeted sharing, allowing you to share individual files without exposing other content stored in the platform. This ensures that access remains intentional and limited to the audience you define.
